From the Greenwood Gleaner and from the scrapbook of Mrs. Andrews, former librarian of The Greenwood Public Library, Greenwood, Wisconsin.

Val Volk, son of John and Josephine Volk, was born at Ammerbach, Bavaria, Germany, September 12, 1879.

At the age of 13 he came with is brother, John to America coming to Greenwood where he learned the tailor trade from his brother Jacob. After the death of his brother Jacob in 1912, he and a younger brother Wm., who had come to America in 1911, formed a partnership. Wm. died in 1932.

He was united in marriage to Miss Bertha Wehrman, November 21, 1906. Their home life was an inspiration and a blessing to all who knew him.

He leaves to mourn his departure his beloved wife, Bertha Volk, three brothers, Frank, Henry and Joe Volk of Milwaukee two sisters, Mrs. Anna Scharf of Milwaukee and Mrs. Otto Hough of Alberta, Canada, besides many other relatives and a host of friends.

The funeral was held from the local Reformed Church Saturday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock, Rev. E.G. Pfeifer officiated. The fact that the church was filled to capacity and that the floral tributes were wonderful and so numerous is the best testimony of the esteem in which Mr. Volk was generally held.
