Alfred Zugier (1919 - 2000)
Alfred Zugier, 80, Lublin, died Wednesday,
Jan. 12 at the Memorial Health Center in Medford.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, Jan. 15 at Thorp Funeral
Home with Rev. John Puerner officiating. Burial took place at East
Thorp Cemetery.
Alfred Zugier was born on June 24, 1919 in Germany to the late
Joseph and Pauline (Paul) Zugier. He came to Wisconsin at the age
of 5.
He married Lucille Pokallus in 1941. They later divorced and he
married Frances Makowski, who survives, in 1965. He worked most of
his life as a mechanic at Lindow's Pontiac Garage and at the John
Deere Farmacy in Medford. He also owned and operated a tavern in
Lublin.
In addition to his wife Frances, survivors include, two sons,
Richard (Nonie), Boyd, and Roger, Eau Claire four daughters, Connie
(Clarence) Miller, Medford, Linda (Peter) Marchinek, Unity, and
Donna (Joe) Arvelo and Peggy (Michael) Radakovich, all of Milwaukee
15 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two
brothers, William and Paul. His wife was the daughter of
Henry Winifred Cecelia Olson Pokallus of Colby, Clark County, WI
and as the obituary states, his daughter, Linda (Peter) Marchinek,
is a resident of Unity, Clark Co., WI.
