OBITUARY OF SAMUEL P. CHRISTIE
Samuel Perry Christie was born in Crawford County, Pa., Oct. 10,
1853. He moved with his parents when a small child to the town of
Weston, Clark County, where he lived and grew to manhood. He passed
to his reward on Wednesday, March 27, 1935 at 6:00 a.m. after a
prolonged illness.
He was united in marriage to Miss Adeline McKimm, April 3, 1878.
Mrs. Christie passed away in 1928. To this union were born two
daughters, Mrs. Louis La Barge, Tacoma, Wash. Mrs. Mary Lambert,
Los Angeles, Cal. and four sons, Free and Hugh of the town of
Eaton, Phillip of Abbotsford and Perry, who passed away in
1907.
For the past few years his son Hugh and family have made their home
with him on the home farm in the town of Eaton.
He is survived by the above named children, two brothers, John
Christie of Woodburn, Oregon, and Phillip Christie of Two Harbors,
Minn. thirteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren a number
of other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held at the local Methodist Church Friday
afternoon, March 29, at 2:00 p.m., Rev. Glenn H. Shanks
officiating. The body was laid to rest in the Greenwood
Cemetery.
Mr. Christie will be fondly remembered by all who knew him and his
many friends grieved to hear of his death. He was a very devoted
father, a loyal and obliging neighbor. Hospitable and kindly, he
was held in esteem by all and the sympathy of all goes out to his
