OBITUARY OF HERMAN LINDEMANN

Herman Lindemann, 44, town of Eaton, Clark County, a farmer residing 7 miles southwest of Greenwood, committed suicide Saturday. The body, suspended from a tree, was found by a searching party at about 1:30 o'clock Saturday afternoon.

Mr. Lindemann, who returned to his home Thursday from Mendota, where he had been a patient for the past year, arose from his bed and left him home about 5:30 o'clock Saturday morning. His wife and other members of his family hearing him leave paid little attention to him, believing that he had gone to do some early chores.

A short time later after he failed to return and could not be located around the farm, the family notified neighbors, who started a search for him. Failing to find any trace of him, they notified Sheriff Hal Richardson and Undersheriff Mads Madsen of Neillsville, who joined in the search.

Believing that Mr. Lindemann may have been a victim of the Black River, which flows by the farm, the officers returned to Neillsville to arrange for the dragging of the river.

A call was put in to the Hatfield CCC Camp to enlist their aid in the search. Several truck loads of CCC boys left at once, but before their arrival the former searching party had come upon the body hanging from a tree in the Hugh Christie woods, whose fram adjoins the Lindemann place.

Coroner P. C. Ludovic, after an investigation of the scene, pronounced it a suicide and stated no inquest would be held.

Herman Lindemann was born Jan. 11, 1891 in Davenport, Iowa and passed away July 27, 1935. In 1896 his parents moved to Chicago, where he received his education and confirmed his baptism. He was very ambitious and started to work in Chicago at an early age. In 1910 he moved to Buffalo, Iowa, where he joined the Knights of Pythias Lodge No. 16, of which he was a member at the time of his death.

In 1915 he was united in marriage to Hilda Huber and in 1921 they moved to Greenwood, Clark County, Wis., where he purchased a farm and lived here ever since. To this union were born five children, Helen, June, Marian, Ronald and Herman Jr.

His character and disposition were such that he made many friends. He was always kind and loving to his family, striving at all time to give them the best.

He is survived by his wife and five children, his mother, Mrs. Helena Lindeman and three sisters, Mrs. Anna Milkee, Mrs. Hilda Schauer and Mrs. Dora Kadow.

Funeral services were held at the home at 1:00 o'clock and at the local M. E. Church at 1:30 o'clock Tuesday afternoon. The body was laid to rest in the Greenwood Cemetery. Rev. Glenn Shanks officiated.
