OBITUARY OF ALBERT ZIMMERMAN

Albert William Zimmerman would soon have reached the age of 71 years, having been born on July 19, 1867 at Tragemuhl in the Province of Bradenburg in North Germany. Immediately after confirmation at the age of 14, he joined a married sister in the Town of Westfield, Sauk County, Wis., who had immigrated before him and assisted him in coming to the United States. Seven Years later, on Dec. 4, 1888, he married Mrs. Emilie Gall of Abelman, Wis.

Their family consisted of twelve children, two of whom died in infancy. Another son, Harold, passed away at Cottage Grove, Oregon, in 1930. His wife preceded him in death in March 1932. His departure is mourned by the following children, Mrs. C. Schenkat and Edward Zimmerman of North Freedom Mrs. E. Roloff and Albert Zimmerman of Reedsburg Mrs. E. Buchsteiner of Greenwood Mrs. B. Haglund of St. Paul, William Zimmerman of Beaver Dam Mrs. A. Ormond of Globe Mrs. G. Schroeder of Neillsville, their families, including 26 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren two sisters, Mrs. Pauline Brunhoefer of Beloit and Mrs. Bertha Krause of North Freedom, a host of friends and relatives.

He farmed practically all of his active life, except for two years he worked in a coal mine in La Salle, Ill. The family left their farm near Reesdburg in 1918 and came to the vicinity of Greenwood, affiliating themselves with Trinity Lutheran Church in April 1919. For a period of years the deceased served the congregation as a deacon. His health began to fail some three years ago when he also had to submit to a major operation. Cancer soon made further inroads on his health, and for the last four months he was entirely bedridden. He passed away at North Freedom on Wednesday, May 18, 1938 at 8:15 a.m.

Services were conducted by Rev. George Heilman at Trinity Church on Saturday, May 21st, interment taking place in the Greenwood Cemetery.
