ACCIDENT TUESDAY PROVES FATAL

James Westphal, an eighteen year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Westphal, of Tioga, Clark County, suffered at terrible death Wednesday as the result of an accident Tuesday. In company with his father, who owns a wood sawing machine, they were at the home of Chas. Wagoner sawing wood. About 9:30 a.m. James tried to throw the belt from the engine and, in so doing, the belt wound up on the pulley, catching his head around the neck and pulled him into the gear. Before he could be released the engine was tripped off the wagon with a result that proved fatal to the boy. His neck was broken and several joints dislocated. Dr. Monk of Neillsville was summoned but could do nothing to relieve the intense suffering.

The engine was of four horse power and worked a six inch drive belt to the saw.

James Westphal was born April 16, 1896, and died June 24, 1914. He was a hard working young man and was well known by many friends in this city.

Funeral services will be held Friday at Neillsville from the Presbyterian church.
