J.C. MOODY
Mr. J.C. Moody passed away Sunday, Feb. 19th,
1911 at the age of 73 years, 3 months and 12 days.
Mr. Moody was born in Perry County, Ohio, Nov. 7, 1837 and came to
Viroqua about 1850. He is known as one of the pioneers of Clark
County, where he has lived and held several offices of trust. He
was an honest and upright citizen and had a large circle of
acquaintances who met at the home Thursday afternoon to pay their
last respect to their departed friend.
Mr. Moody enlisted in the Civil War in Sept., 1861, was in 18
battles, wounded and taken prisoner at Lynchburg. He was a member
of the Iron Bridgade, 6th, Wisconsin Co. I and was honorably
discharged in July 1865.
Mr. Moody had been failing for some time and last June went to
California with his daughter, Mrs. Clara Withee with the hopes of
benefiting his health. He spent several months in the west,
returning home in the fall and has gradually failed ever since.
He leaves to mourn his a widow, to whom he was married about 32
years ago, and one daughter, Mrs. Clara Withee of Tacoma.
The funeral services were conducted from the home Thursday at 1:30,
rev. Cook officiating. Interment was made in Riverview
