THOS. CHADWICK DEAD
Thos. Chadwick of the town of Eaton, Clark County died at his home
last Thursday, June 29, 1911.
Deceased was born in New Hampshire June 15, 1832 and moved with his
parents to Warrensburg, N.Y. when he was a boy, where he grew to
manhood. He was married to Roxena Vernom in 1859.
He engaged in the lumbering business in New York state in early
life and came to Wisconsin for the first time in 1857, and again in
1861, when he invested in timber lands.
In 1872 he moved to Neillsville with his family and in the spring
of 1873 moved to the farm where he has since lived.
He died last week as stated before, at the age of 79, from general
decline and age. He leaves to mourn his loss his faithful wife and
one son. One sister is till living in the state of New York.
The funeral services took place at the M. E. Church of Christie on
Saturday, July 1st, Rev. W. T. Hendren, of the Presbyterian Church
of Greenwood officiating, and the burial was in the Christie
Cemetery. A goodly number of near relatives, with a large number of
old friends and neighbors, were present to follow the remains to
their last resting place, and to do with sweet songs and beautiful
flowers all they could to comfort the bereaved family.
Thus do we take note of the departure from our midst of another
Clark County pioneer who figure largely along the banks of Black
River forty or fifty years ago.
