OBITUARY

Monday was the dawning of a sad day for two families at Christie, and the termination of the lived of two of its most prominent citizens.

The first shock to the community was received at about eight o'clock Monday morning, April 25, 1910, when Mr. Daniel Atkins passed quietly away at the age of 60 years from a paralytic stroke, the first of which occurred about two years ago, the final stroke which caused his death occurring Friday of last week.

Daniel Atkins was a native of Minerva, N.Y., and came to Christie, Clark County more than thirty years ago, when he worked for Thomas Chadwick, eventually buying and clearing a farm for himself, and at the time of his death was considered one of the community's most prosperous and progressive farmers.

Mr. Atkins was a God-fearing man of the Christian faith and was a most loving husband and father, and a kind neighbor, beloved by all. He leaves a wife and five children, two girls and three boys, to mourn his demise.

The funeral services were held at the Christie church a two o'clock, the Rev. W. E. Marsh of Greenwood officiating. Interment was in the Christie Cemetery.
