DEATH OF OTIS W. SHERMAN
On Sunday afternoon, Feb. 20, 1910 at 2 o'clock, Otis W. Sherman,
who had been a constant sufferer for many months past, was relieved
by death from his sufferings.
Mr. Sherman was born at Delavan, Wis., March 25, 1872, and at the
age of three years went with his parents to Minnesota, where he
lived for about ten years, when the family moved to Neillsville,
Clark County, at which place he was united in marriage to Miss Anna
Gertrude Wierschen, April 6, 1899, three children resulting from
this union, all of whom survive him.
He moved with his family from Neillsville to Marshfield in 1903,
and in June 1907 he came to this city. He was a valued employee of
the Greenwood Heading and Lumber Co. until his failing health
prevented him from attending to his duties, and from that time on
chronic Bright's disease continued to perform its deadly duties
until its work was complete.
He was in the prime of life with a happy and loving family around
him, and it did seem a pity that he should be taken away. He was a
God fearing man, a loving husband and a dutiful father, besides
being an honored member of the Fraternal Reserve Association, who
attended the funeral in a body.
Besides a wife and three children, Mabel Isabel, Olive Gertrude and
Irving Edward, he leaves loving parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles
Sherman, of Neillsville, five brothers and one sister, Carrie of
Chicago Muriel, Charles and Edward, all of Neillsville William of
Hudson, Wis. and Alfred of Minneapolis.
Short funeral services were held at the house Tuesday morning by
the Rev. W. E. Marsh, when the remains were taken to Neillsville
where services were conducted in the M. E. Church and the remains
interred in the Neillsville Cemetery.
The bereaved family have the heartfelt sympathy of the entire
community in their bereavement.
