ED STEINBACH MEETS SUDDEN DEATH
Edward Stenbach, a farmer of the tow of Lynn,
Clark County, met with an accident last Monday morning, which
resulted in instant death. He was busy tearing down an old log barn
and while thus engaged, in some way lost his footing and fell to
the ground below, a distance of about 16 feet. On the ground there
was a pile of logs, his feet striking these in such a manner as to
throw him head first against the edge of another log, crushing one
side of his face, fracturing his skull, and breaking the back bone.
He was at once carried to the house by those who were with him at
the time, and Dr. Ross of this place was at once called. But there
was no help for the unfortunate man, life having already departed.
After making an examination the doctor pronounced death to have
been instantaneous. He leaves a wife and four children, all girls,
aged 3, 4, 5 and 6, one brother, Phillip, and one sister, Mrs.
James Quicker.
Thus another good man is gone and his wife has lost an industrious,
sober and well providing husband, the children a kind and loving
father and the community in which he lived is minus a citizen of
whom they were proud. His friends were many and it was with the
deepest sorrow they received the sad news.
Mr. Steinbach and family came here from Calumet County, Wis., and
settled in the Town of Lynn, where about three years ago they
purchased the farm formerly owned by H. B. Holmes. Deceased was a
young man, being but 27 years of age. The funeral was held at Chili
Thursday morning at 9:30, Rev. Dorrenbach of the Neillsville
Catholic church officiating. Interment was made in the Catholic
Cemetery at Chili. (Granton News)
