LAWRENCE BOWMAN


Funeral services for Lawrence Bowman, 84, of Route 1, Merrillan in the Town of Dewhurst, will be conducted at the United Methodist Church, Loyal at 1:30 p.m., Friday, May 13. He passed away early Tuesday morning, May 10, 1977, at his home.


Rev. Eugene Carlson will officiate and burial will be made in the Loyal Cemetery.


The body will lie in state at the Rinka Funeral Home, Loyal, after 2 p.m. Thursday and after 10:30 a.m. at the church.


Lawrence Bowman was born on Oct. 21, 1892, in the Town of Sherman, Clark County and received his education at Catline School in the Town of Sherman.


He was married to Hilda Clouse on Sept. 27, 1916 at Loyal.


They farmed in the Town of Loyal and Town of Sherman until 1946. In 1946, he sold his farm and worked for the Clark County Highway Department until 1958 when he moved to Hatfield.


He was a member of the Modern Woodmen.


Surviving him are his wife, Hilda, one son, Edward of Alma Center nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.


Serving as pallbearers will be Jerry, Jack, Jay and John Bowman, Dale Cummings, and Dean Stephens, all grandchildren.
