OBITUARY OF AUGUST GOEKE


August Goeke
, son of Friederich and Charlotte (Drueffel) Goeke, was born in the Town of Newton, near Manitowoc, Wis. on Aug. 16, 1864. There he spent his childhood and youth. On Feb. 18, 1892 he was united in marriage with Lina Stockmeier. They lived on a farm in the Town of Newton until the spring of 1910, when they moved to Clark County and bought a farm in the Town of Warner, which has been their home ever since.


On the Thursday before Easter Mr. Goeke contracted influenza, which became so pronounce that he was confined to his bed. Later this developed into erysipelas. Seemingly on the gain he was unexpectedly called to his eternal reward Saturday, May 16, 1931. Two children preceded him in death, dying in early infancy. Besides his wife he leaves to mourn, one son, William, two daughters, Mrs. Emma Kuester and Mrs. Alma Busch and eight grandchildren, all of the Town of Warner, Clark County, three brothers, Henry, Fred and Herman of the Town of Newton.


Mr. Goeke was well known throughout the country, enjoying a large circle of friends and acquaintances.


Funeral services were held from the West Side Reformed Church Wednesday, May 20, Rev. Paul Franzmeier officiating. Interment was made in the West Side Cemetery.
