OBITUARY OF NICHOLAS SCHUH
Nicholas Schuh died in his home at La Crosse, Thursday evening, Feb. 7th, 1935, after a short illness. He was the father of Rev. Alphonse N. Schuh, superintendent of St. Michael Orphanage, La Crosse, and Rev. Gerald Schuh, pastor of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Greenwood. Another son, Brother Ulrich Schuh is a member of the Society of Mary of St. Louis, Mo., and is now stationed at Durand, Wis. A fourth son, Myron Schuh, is a student of Theology at St. John's Seminary, Collegeville, Minn.
Besides these four sons, Mr. Schuh is survived by his wife, formerly Emma Diedrich. The couple were married June 6, 1894, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Rollingstone, Minn. Mr. Schuh was long in business there, and moved to La Crosse 17 years ago. He is a native of Luxemburg, born Nov. 21, 1860. Two sisters and a brother also survive.
Funeral services were held in Holy Trinity Catholic Church in La Crosse, the Rev. Gerald F. Schuh officiating at the Solemn Requiem High Mass. Assisting him were Rev. Alphonse Schuh as deacon and Rev. Oscar Cramer as sub-deacon, Rev. Father Plecity, master of ceremonies, Rev. J. Reisterer, pastor of Holy Trinity with Rt. Rev. Msgr Peter Pape of the La Crosse Cathedral officiated at the interment in the La Crosse Catholic Cemetery.
Eighteen priests and three Monsignors from La Crosse and vicinity were present in the sanctuary.
Mr. Schuh is well known by many in Greenwood, Clark County, on account of his frequent visits with his son, Rev. G.F. Schuh at the Catholic Rectory.
