JULIUS AMPE PASSES AWAY SUDDENLY
Julius Ampe passed away suddenly at his home 2 miles south of Greenwood, Clark County at about 9:30 p.m. on Monday Sept. 9, 1940 from a hemorrhage, which started about 9:00 p.m.
Mr. Ampe was born in Belgium June 24, 1883 and was married at Marshall, Minn., Aug. 1, 1904 to Miss Frieda Verhel. To this union were born eight children, Albert of Washington, Kan. Alphonse of Cadott, Wis. Arthur of Christie Theodore of Greenwood Mrs. Francis (Margaret) Mason of Detroit, Mich. Mrs. Kenneth (Alvina) Keach of Viola Raymond and Mary at home.
He is survived by his wife and the above named children, 19 grandchildren 5 sisters and 4 brothers in France and one brother Achille of Loyal.
Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 9 o'clock at St. Mary's Catholic Church, The Rev. J. J. Novak officiating at the requiem high mass. Burial will be made in the Catholic Cemetery at Greenwood.
Pallbearers will be Fred Kocher, Jack Bertz, Joseph Rondorf, George Scherer, Gerald Denk and William McKenna.
After their marriage they resided for 3 months at Marshall, Minn., then going to Glenwood City in 1904 and remaining
until 1914. In 1913 they went to Belgium to visit relatives, returning in 1914, accompanied by his brother and sister-in-law, who now reside at Loyal. The Ampe's resided at Reedsburg from 1914 to 1918, two years being spent on a farm and 2 years running a store. In 1918 they moved to a farm near Christie and in 1921 to the present farm. In 1929 they made a trip out west and in 1931 resided in Neillsville, returning to the farm in 1932 where they have resided ever since.
Mr. Ampe suffered many cuts and bruises in an auto accident on Aug. 14, 1940, but has been in fairly good health since, with the exception of severe headaches.
