CHRISTIE YOUTH SHOOTS HIMSELF


Charles (Carl) Vernon Timerson
, 19, son of Dan Timerson died of accidentally self inflicted gunshot wounds at the home of his father at Christie, in the Town of Weston, Clark County, Sunday March 23, 1941.


From reports, Carl and his nephew Donald Duda, 12, were in Carl's bedroom around 5 p.m. where he started to lay out clothing in preparation of going roller skating. Taking down a .32 caliber revolver from the top of a buffet in the room and showed it to Donald, saying this killed a lot of dogs. He told the boy to lift it and see how heavy it was, and the boy found it heavy and full of shells. Carl took the gun and held it to his forehead, taking it away and then placed it at his head again, with the gun immediately discharging. On examination of the gun it was found to be an old style rim fire .32 caliber revolver, badly worn with age and having no safety catch.


Donald ran to the barn and informed Mr. Timerson of what had happened and he immediately call Dr. M.C. Rosakrans of Neillsville, Dr. Rosekrans called Police Chief Rossman and they went to the Timerson home. Coroner P.C. Ludovic, Dist. Atty. Bruce Belfuss and Undersherrif Herbert H. Olson were summoned and after an investigation pronounced the death accidental.


Carl was born May 27, 1921 in the Town of Weston and is survived by his father, a sister, Mrs. Jos. (Edith) Duda, Town of Eaton a brother, Archie Timerson, Town of Weston. His mother passed away in 1931.


Funeral services were conducted on Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock at the home and at 2:30 at the Congregational Church in Neillsville, Rev. G. Longenecker officiated.
The pallbearers were George Herrick, Merrill Boone, Roman Halle, Edwin Kindt, Glen Mills, Eldon Weisjohn.
