ABBOTSFORD WOOMAN DIES MONDAY NIGHT
FUNERAL WILL BE HELD THURSDAY AT GREENWOOD FOR FORMER RESIDENT
Greenwood Mrs. Phil Christie, 48, died of Cancer at 6:30 last night, Sept., 15, 1941, at the Neillsville Hospital, where she had been a patient for the past two weeks. In May she underwent an operation at St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield, and for some time had been in poor health.
Mrs. Christie, the former Edith Atkins, daughter of Daniel and Jennie Atkins, was born at Christie, Clark County, south of Greenwood, Sept. 2, 1893, and had lived in Greenwood since her marriage to Phil Christie, until 13 years ago, when the Christies moved to Abbotsford to make their home. While in Greenwood Mr. Christie operated a filling station.
The body is lying in state at the Stabnow Funeral Home, Greenwood, and on Thursday will be taken to the home of her brother-in-law and sister and Mr. Christie's brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Christie, 5 miles southwest of Greenwood, where she had spent considerable time during her recent illness.
Funeral rites will be conducted at 1 o'clock Thursday afternoon at the Hugh Christ home, and at 2 o'clock at Grace Methodist Church. Burial will take place in the Greenwood Cemetery.
Surviving, besides her husband Phil Christie of Abbotsford, are her mother, Mrs. Jennie Atkins, Christie her sister, Mrs. Hugh (Loteen) Christie, Greenwood and three brothers, Clifford of the Dakotas, George of Christie, and Leon of Durand. Her father died many years ago.
