O. J. AMUNDSON DIES SATURDAY
PNEUMONIA FATAL TO GREENWOOD RESIDENT

Greenwood Orlando J. Amundson, 72, died at St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield, at 8:15 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, 1953 of pneumonia. In poor health for some time, he had undergone surgery at the hospital about two weeks ago.
Mr. Amundson was a retired businessman, having been engaged in the operation of a feed mill here (Greenwood, Clark County) from 1928 to 1947. A member of the local school board for a number of years, he was also financial secretary of Our Savior's Lutheran Church.
Born in Farmington Township, La Crosse County, on March 7, 1881, he attended the schools of Galesville and was a student at Gale College for two years.
He was married to Olga Olson at Woodville on June 27, 1907. Becoming a creamery operator at Pierre and Rapid City, S.D., he returned to Wisconsin in 1918 and spent four years in Baldwin as a carpenter.
He then operated grain elevators at Emerald and Boyd before coming to Greenwood in November of 1928 to enter the feed business here.
Mr. Amundson was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Eastern Star, and of the Eau Claire Consistory. He also belonged to the Odd Fellows.
Surviving are is wife, two daughters, Mrs. A. S. (Bernice) Rushka and Mrs. Robert (Laura) Funke, New Holstein a son, Gordon, Emerald and adopted daughter, Mrs. Bernel (Lorraine) Lang, New Holstein,
seven grandchildren, and two brothers, John, Spokane, Wash., and Elmer,
Fairmont, Minn. One brother preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be conducted at Our Savior's Lutheran Church her by Rev. Magnus Egge at 2 p.m. Tuesday, and burial will take place in Greenwood Cemetery. The body will repose at the Schiller Funeral Home until 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, when it will be taken to the church.

Orlando Amundson belonged to the prestigious Greenwood Commercial Club and served on the committee for the Banquet held in honor of the unveiling of the Peace Monument given to the city by Ernest Durig in 1937.
