BEHRINGER FUNERAL HELD IN GREENWOOD
REV. HEILMAN OFFICIATES AT RITES FOR TOWN OF WARNER WOMAN
Greenwood Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Schiller Funeral Home for Mrs. Jacob Behringer, 76, who died of a heart ailment Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 22, 1942, at her home, 6 miles north of Greenwood, Clark County, following a lingering illness.
The Rev. George Heilman, pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church, officiated at the services, and interment was made in Greenwood Cemetery.
During the service Mrs. Heilman gave a musical rendition of the 23rd Psalm and also played Who Knows When Death May Overtake Me and Commit Whatever Grieves Thee on the organ.
Louise Schmidt was born April 16, 1866 in the province of Hanover, Germany and at the age of six came to America with her parents, settling in Manitowoc County. She received her education and was confirmed at Newton, and in 1883 was married to Jacob Behringer.
In 1907 the Behringer family moved to the present farm in the Town of Warner, although Mr. and Mrs. Behringer lived in the village of Loyal for 12 years, returned to the farm five years ago to live with their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Norman Behringer.
Surviving are her husband, who was confined to his bed by illness and was unable to attend the funeral, and nine children, Norman Behringer, Town of Warner Mrs. Hugo Golle and Mrs. Arthur Mueller, both of Manitowoc Hugo Behringer, Owen Mrs. Robert Yandry, Beloit Mrs. Carl Wetzel, Owen Mrs. Richard Herman, Manitowoc Clarence Behringer, Owen and Mrs. Ray Vogel, Wisconsin Rapids. Two children preceded her in death in infancy.
Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Meta Ansorge, Mantiowoc, and Mrs. Ida Vogelsang, Lander, Wyo. a brother, Louis Schmidt, Manitowoc 22 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
