CHARLES AFKEND, 74 DIES THIS MORNING
HEART ATTACK RESULTS IN SUDDEN DEATH OF GREENWOOD RESIDENT

Greenwood--Charles Afkend, 74, who had been in poor health for several years, died suddenly of a heart attack this morning, June 22, 1946 at his home at Greenwood, Clark County.

Tentative funeral arrangements have been made for Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock at the Stabnow Funeral Home and 2 o'clock at United Lutheran Church, the Rev. A. E. Norson officiating. Interment will be made in the Greenwood Cemetery.

Mr. Afkend, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Ole Afkend, was born in Iowa County, Wis., March 6, 1872. He lived in Greenwood the past 30 years and before retiring he operated a farm and also a milk route.

Surviving are a son, Clayton, Marshfield a daughter, Melva, at home a brother, Martin, Greenwood and two sisters. His wife and a son, Alvin, preceded him in death.
