FRANK PARKEL DIES WAS 91
Greenwood--Services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the Hill Funeral Home and at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church for Frank J. Parkel, 91, of Greenwood, Clark County, who died in his sleep at his home early Thursday.
The Rev. Leander Koopman, pastor, will officiate and burial will be made in the Holy Family Cemetery at Willard. Visitations may be made at the Hill Funeral Home.
Mr. Parkel was born Oct. 4, 1878, in Yugoslavia and came to Frontenac, Kan., in 1902. He was married there Jan. 18, 1904 to Theresa H. Gorenc. The couple celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary in 1969.
They came to the Willard area in 1917 and farmed there until their retirement in 1947, when they moved to Greenwood.
Survivors include his wife five daughters, Mrs. August (Theresa) Podobnik, Greenwood Mrs. Nick (Ann) Babich, Loyal Mrs. Joe (Helen) Wene, Mrs. George (Mildred) Miller and Mrs. Rudolph (Donna) Singer, all of Milwaukee a son, Frank Parkel Jr., Willard 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son and a daughter.
