Tuesday morning at the Holy Family Church (Willard, Clark County)
occurred the marriage of Miss Mary Pavlin and Frank Laken, both
from near Tioga. The young couple left immediately for a brief
honeymoon in Illinois. Their friends extend congratulations. Greenwood

Greenwood--Services were held at 9 a.m. today at the Hill Funeral Home here and at 10 a.m. today at St. Mary's Catholic Church here, for Frank
Laken, 81, of Greenwood, Clark County, who died Friday afternoon, Dec. 31, 1971 at the Memorial Home in Neillsville, where he had been a patient for three weeks.
The Rev. Leander Koopman, pastor, officiated and burial was made in Holy Family Catholic Cemetery in Willard. The Hill Funeral Home, Greenwood, was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Laken was born Dec. 6, 1890, in Austria, and came to Ottawa, Ill., as a young boy. He came to the Willard area in 1914, and was married there May 29, 1917, to Mary Tolaney, who survives him. The couple farmed in the Willard area for 36 years before moving to (The rest of my copy was cut off)

MRS. Laken OF GREENWOOD DIES
Greenwood -- Mrs. Frank (Mary) Laken,
Greenwood, Clark County, died of a heart attack at 2 p.m.
Wednesday, Jan. 24, 1973, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield,
where she was taken by ambulance at noon. She was 76 years of
age.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic
Church in Greenwood, with the Rev. Leander Koopman, pastor,
officiating. Burial will be made in the Holy Family Catholic
cemetery in Willard.
Friends may call at the Hill Funeral Home in Greenwood beginning
Friday afternoon. A rosary service will be conducted there at 8:15
p.m. Friday.
The former Mary Tolaney was born on Aug. 22, 1896, in Pennsylvania.
She moved to the Tioga area of Greenwood from Tower, Minn., with
her parents in 1910, and was married on May 29, 1917, to Frank
Laken in Holy Family Catholic Church in Willard. After their
marriage they farmed on Route 3, Neillsville for 36 years before
moving to the city of Greenwood in 1950. Mr. and Mrs. Laken
celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in May, 1967, and he
preceded her in death on Dec. 31, 1971.
Those surviving her are three daughters, Mrs. Otto (Mary) Berg,
Washington, D.C., Mrs. Matt (Helen) Dergance of Hillside, Ill., and
Mrs. Joseph (Josephine) Verschay, Owen a son, George Laken, Lyons,
Ill. three brothers, John Tolaney, Neillsville, Joseph Tolaney Sr.,
Greenwood, and Tony Tolaney, Stevens Point three sisters, Mrs.
Joseph (Angeline) Jeras, Lyons, Ill. Mrs. Mike (Francis) Laken,
Chicago, and Sister Margaret, Baraboo and eight grandchildren.
Three brothers, in addition to her husband, preceded her in
death.

Mrs. Frank Laken, 76, Greenwood, died January 24 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in
Marshfield where she was taken by ambulance that day. Death was attributed to a
heart attack.
Mrs. Laken, the former Mary Ann Tolaney, was born August 22, 1896, in
Pennsylvania to Mr. and Mrs. Anton Tolaney. She came to the Tioga area from
Tower, Minn., with her parents in 1910. She was married May 29, 1917, in Holy
Family Catholic Church, Willard to Frank Laken. They farmed on Rt. 3 Neillsville
for 36 years before moving to the city of Greenwood in 1950. They celebrated
their golden wedding anniversary May 29, 1967. Mr. Laken died December 31, 1971.
Mrs. Laken was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and St. Ann’s Society.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Otto (Mary Ann) Berg of Washington, D.C.,
Mrs. Matt (Helen) Dergance of Hillside, Ill., and Mrs. Joseph (Josephine)
Verschay of Owen; a son, George Laken of Lyons, Ill.; eight grandchildren; three
brothers: John Tolaney, Sr., of Neillsville, Joseph Tolaney of Greenwood and
Tony Tolaney of Stevens Point; and three sisters: Mrs. Joseph (Angeline) Jeras
of Lyons, Ill., Mrs. Mike (Frances) Laken of Chicago and Sister Margaret Ann of
Baraboo.
Funeral services were held Saturday from St. Mary’s Catholic Church. The Rev.
Leander Koopman officiated. Burial was made in the Holy Family Cemetery in
Willard.
Pallbearers were LeRoy Kesler, Erwin Grap, John Kaltinger, Frank Perushek, John
Snedic and Ed Bogdonovich.
