MRS. MARY GRABARA


Greenwood--Mrs. George (Mary) Grabara Sr., 70, of Greenwood, Clark County, died at 3:45 a.m. Monday, Feb. 18, 1974 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield, where she had been admitted the previous day.


Rites will be conducted at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the Hill Funeral Home in Greenwood and at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church here. The Rev. Leander A. Koopman, pastor, will officiate, with burial to follow in St. Mary's Cemetery.


Friends may call beginning at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.


The former Mary Higarth was born Dec. 17, 1903 in Germany and was married there Dec. 14, 1924, to George Grabara, who preceded her in death Sept. 13, 1970.


In 1926 they came to the United States, living in Kenosha and Milwaukee until 1948. They then came to Greenwood, where they had owned and operated the Greenwood Bakery. Following the death of her husband in 1970, she became a resident of the Neillsville Memorial Home.


Survivors include a son, George Grabara Jr., Greenwood two daughters, Mrs. Jerome (Elsie) Sowieja, Greenwood, and Mrs. William (Mary) Weiss, Appleton a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Labowski, Kenosha a brother and a sister in Germany 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
