GEORGE PODROVITZ


Greenwood--Rites for George Podrovitz, 64, Greenwood, Clark County, were conducted at 1:30 p.m. today at the Hill Funeral Home. Mr. Podrovitz died Saturday morning, Dec. 21, 1974 at the Neillsville Memorial Hospital, where he had been admitted Dec. 16 following an apparent heart attack.


Officiating was the Rev. Michael G. Mertens, pastor of Holy Family Catholic Church in Willard, and burial was made in the parish cemetery.


Mr. Podrovitz was born April 4, 1910 in Milwaukee and was married Jan. 6, 1932, at Waukegan, Ill., to the former Mathilda Cerne, who survives him. The couple lived in Chicago for eight years and in 1940 moved to the Willard area, where they farmed until June 1973. They then retired and came to the city of Greenwood.


For a number of years he was a member of the Hendren Town Board.


In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Daniel (Marian) Smrecek, Greenwood a son, Michael, Greenwood three sisters, Mrs. Ann Roberson and Mrs. Marie Farrell, both of Milwaukee, and Mrs. Catherine Plautz, Willard and nine grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by a sister, a brother and a grandchild.


Serving as pallbearers were David Smrecek, Daniel Smrecek Jr., Roland Hintz, Robert Herrick, George Plautz, and Roger Kirn.


Gary Schultz, vocalist, was accompanied at the organ by his wife.
