MRS. LEONA SYTH
Greenwood--Rites will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church here for Mrs. Leona Syth, 67, of 317 S. Hendren St., Greenwood, Clark County. She died shortly after admission at 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, 1975 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield.
The Rev. Robert B. Houston, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Friends may call after 2 p.m. today at the Rinka Funeral Home in Greenwood, where a general rosary services will be at 8:30 tonight.
The former Leona Weber was born Aug. 20, 1907, in rural Greenwood and attended the former West Eaton School and graduated from Greenwood High School. She had worked at the Farmers Store in Greenwood and the past several years at the Greenwood I.G.A.
After her marriage to Jerold Syth on Oct. 30, 1927, at Greenwood, the couple farmed for a number of years in various places in the Greenwood area. Her husband died July 4, 1950.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and its St. Ann's Society.
Surviving are three daughters, Miss Geraldine Syth, Calumet City, Ill., Mrs. Norman (Rita) Mayenschein, Greenwood, and Mrs. Russell (Sue) Brockmen, Appleton two sons, Duane, Santa Clara, Calif., and Ronald, San Jose, Calif. two sisters, Mrs. Charles (Adeline) Rethsack, Butternut, and Mrs. Charles (Mildred) Herrick, Greenwood three brothers, Bernard Weber, Bowling Green, Ky., John Weber, Rio Linda, Calif., and Victor Weber, Waukesha 17 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death, in addition to her husband, were a son, two brothers and seven sisters.

Syth, Leona (20, August 1907 – 16 August 1975)
Mrs. Leona Syth, 67, lifelong resident of Greenwood, died August 16, at St.
Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, where she had been admitted that morning.
Mrs. Syth, the former Leona Weber, was born August 20, 1907, in Greenwood. She
attended the West Eaton School and was a graduate of Greenwood High School.
She was employed at the Farmer Store and the past several years at the Greenwood
I.G.A. store.
After her marriage to Jerold Syth on October 30, 1927, at Greenwood, they farmed
in the Greenwood area. He died July 4, 1950.
She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church; St. Ann’s Society and the
American Legion Auxiliary.
She is survived by three daughters, Miss Geraldine Syth of Calumet City, Il.,
Mrs. Norman (Rita) Mayenschien of Greenwood, and Mrs. Russell (Sue) Brockmen of
Appleton, by two sons, Duane Syth of Santa Clara, Ca., and Ronald Syth of San
Jose, Ca. also surviving are two sisters, Mrs.. Charles (Adeline) Rethsak of
Butternut and mrs. Charles (Mildred) Herrick of Greenwood, three brothers,
Bernard Weber of Bowling Green, Ky., John Weber of Rio Linda, Ca., and Victor
Weber of Waukesha; 17 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. August 19 from St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
The Rev. Robert Houston, pastor, officiated. Burial was made in the St. Mary’s
Cemetery. Pallbearers were Giles Susa, James Susa, Howard Susa, John Gatz, Jake
Barr and Edward Meinholdt.
