CYRIL RAKOVEC


Cyril Rakovec, 74, Route 2, Greenwood, Clark County, died Friday, Jan. 15, 1988 at 11 a.m. at Neillsville Memorial Hospital. Funeral services were held Monday, Feb. 18 at 1 p.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, Willard, with Rev. James Lesczynski officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.


Pallbearers were Dennis Susa, Paul Herkert, Greg Herkert, Allen Rakovec, Frank Pekol Jr., and Richard Rakovec Fr. Cyril Rakovec was born March 10, 1913 in Yugoslavia to Joseph Sr. and Antonia (nee Zorko) Rakovec. After he moved to the United States he received his education in the West Eaton School. On Jan. 25, 1947, he and Lorraine Herkert were married at Sacred Heart Church, Marshfield. He farmed all his life in the Town of Eaton. After he retired in 1984 he continued to live on the farm.


He is a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and KSKJ Slovenian Lodge 136.


Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Alden (Patricia) Dahl, Stanley Mrs. Kenneth (Joan) Severson, Unity Miss Linda Rakoveck, Greenwood and Miss Rose Rakovec, Chetek five sons, Jerold of Withee Michael of Loyal, Gene of Greenwood, Cyril Jr. of Chili and Randall of Greenwood one sister, Mrs. Frank (Mary) Pekol Sr., Willard and four brothers, Joseph of Marshfield Richard of Chicago and Frank and John of Loyal and 20 grandchildren.


Preceding him in death were his wife and parents.


Rinka Funeral Home, Greenwood, was in charge of funeral arrangements.
