JOHN MONEGAR

John Monegar, 33, a former Greenwood, Clark County resident, now residing in Chippewa Falls, was found dead in his hotel room Saturday evening, Feb. 4, 1978. Death was believed to have occurred sometime on Wednesday, Feb. 1, 1978.

A graveside service was conducted at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 7, at Stacy Estates Cemetery. A memorial service followed at the Buker residence. Rev. James Selmser of Winnebago United Church of Christ officiated and Rinka Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

John Monegar was born on July 5, 1944 at Black River Falls and attended Greenwood grade and high school. He went to vocational school to become a welder and then worked for a number of years for a Marshfield form as a welder. He was presently employed as a maintenance man for Northern Colony of Chippewa Falls.

He was a member of Winnebago United Church of Christ.

Surviving him are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Buker, Greenwood two half-brothers, Clarence Monegar of Crystal, Minn. and Kenneth Buker of Marshfield and three half-sisters, Mrs. Mona (David) Garthune of Minneapolis, Mrs. Marsha Fox of Minnetonka, Minn., and Mrs. Martha Sullivan of Duluth, Minn.

Preceding him in death was his father, Clarence Monegar.

Monegar, John (8 July 1944 – 1 February 1978)

John Monegar, 33, Chippewa Falls, a former Greenwood resident, was found dead in his hotel room Saturday evening, February, and was believed to have died four days earlier.

Monegar was born July 8, 1944, in Black River Falls and attended Greenwood schools. He also attended a vocational school in a welding program. He was a welder for several years for a Marshfield firm and at the time of his death was a maintenance man for Northern Colony in Chippewa Falls. He was a member of Winnebago United Church of Christ.

Surviving are his mother and stepfather, Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Buker, Willard; a brother, Clarence Monegar, Crystal, Mn.; half-brother, Kenneth Buker, Marshfield, three half-sisters, Mrs. David (Mona) Garthune of Minneapolis, Mrs. Marscha Fox of Minnetonka, Mn., and Mrs. Martha Sullivan of Duluth, Mn. He was preceded in death by his father, Clarence Monegar.

Services were held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, at the Immanuel Church of Christ, in Greenwood. The Rev. James Selmser, pastor of the Winnebago United Church of Christ in Black River Falls, officiated with the assistance of the Rev. D.E. Sprague, pastor of the Neillsville Assembly of God, the Rev. Larry Davis, pastor of the Immanuel United Church of Christ in Greenwood. Arrangements were made by the Rinka Funeral Home, Greenwood.

Committal services were held at 2 p m. in the Stacy Estates Cemetery, prior to the Memorial Services at the Immanuel Church in Greenwood. People attending came from Wausau, Trempealeau, Black River Falls, Minneapolis, Fond du Lac, and from surrounding communities. At the committal service, Joe Brown Thunder, Black River Falls, sang, “How Great Thou Art.” At the Memorial Service, Brown Thunder sang, “In The Sweet By and By” in both the Winnebago and English language. Mrs. James Selmser of Black River Falls was the organist. The Rev. Harry Stroessner of Bloomington, Mn., offered a prayer.
