Vinger, Palmer (1897 - 1964)
GREENWOOD--Palmer Vinger, 66, widely known real estate and
insurance man in the Greenwood, Clark County area for over 40 years, died at 3:10
p.m. Thursday, May 14, 1964 at the Methodist Hospital in Rochester, Minn., following
surgery.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church.
The Rev. Arvid Myhrwold will officiate. Visitations may be made at the Hill Funeral
Home beginning at noon Saturday.
Mr. Vinger was born Aug. 8, 1897, at Argyle. His marriage to Lydia Olson took place
Dec. 5, 1917, in Argyle. After their marriage the couple moved to a farm west of
Colby. Two years later he entered the insurance business and in 1921 they moved
to the Greenwood area.
Mr. Vinger was the organizer of the National Farm Loan Association in Greenwood
and served as secretary-treasurer of that organization until the local associations
were grouped. He organized Badger State Credit Company in 1936 and had served as
secretary-treasurer since.
He was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church the Masonic Lodge of Greenwood charter
member of the Greenwood Rotary Club a charter member of the clover Bell Board of
Realtors National Association of Real Estate Brokers the Accredited Farm Brokers
National Association of Independent Insurance Agents of Wisconsin.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Bill (Vivian) Kavanaugh
and Mrs. Richard (Shirley) Thompson, Greenwood four brothers, Victor Vinger, Stanley
Chester Vinger, Argyle Gerhardt Vinger, Minneapolis, Minn. and Malcomb Vinger, New
Prague, Minn. three sisters, Mrs. Clarence (Lulu) Robinson, Broadview, Ill. Mrs.
O. J. (Marie) Strand, Hollandale and Mrs. Ed. (Hazel) Ragetz, Stanley, and four
grandchildren.
Notes
Palmer Vinger belonged to the prestigious Greenwood Commercial Club and was on the committee for the Banquet held in honor of the unveiling of the Peace Monument given to the city by Ernest Durig in 1937. He was also had a bust made of his daughter, Shirley, by the artist.
