Syth, Vern L. (1900 - 1959)


GREENWOOD--Vern Lee Syth, 59, a lifelong resident of Greenwood, Clark County, died before his home as he was returning from a shopping trip at 3:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 11, 1959. Death was due to a heart attack.


Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Hill Funeral Home, with the Rev. Ethel Nulton officiating. Burial will take place in the Greenwood Cemetery.


Friends may call Monday afternoon and evening at the funeral home.


Mr. Syth was born Jan. 14, 1900, in the Town of Eaton, near Greenwood. On Oct. 5, 1920, he married Alma Roun at Greenwood.


An electrician and mechanic, he operated a workshop at his home on Depot Street.


He is survived by four sons, Dale, Eau Claire Earl, Spencer, Okla. Richard, Greenwood and Pfc. Kenneth, in the Army at Camp Drum, N.Y. two sisters, Mrs. Carl (Lila) Stabnow, Greenwood and Mrs. Herbert (Lucille) Koenig, Milwaukee and five grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by a son in infancy, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Syth and a brother, James.
