Godec, Joseph (1877 - 1958)
GREENWOOD--Joseph Godec, 80, Greenwood, Clark County, who came to this area in 1916, died at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 22, 1958, at River Pines Sanatorium at Stevens Point, following a heart attack. He was taken there Jan. 2, after a two-week confinement in St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield.
Funeral services will be held here at 9 o'clock Saturday morning at St. Mary's Catholic Church, of which he is a member. The Rev. Edward Hartung will conduct the rites, which will conclude with burial in the Catholic Cemetery at Willard.
Beginning Thursday evening, friends may call at the Hill Funeral Home, where a rosary will be said at 8:30 p.m. Friday.
Mr. Godec was born in Yugoslavia Nov. 11, 1877. He immigrated to America at the age of 17 and settled at Pueblo, Colo., where he married Mary Vidmar 55 years ago. In 1916 they moved to a farm 1 miles south of Willard. After retiring seven years ago, they moved to Greenwood.
