Murphy, Mary (1874 - 1955)


GREENWOOD, CLARK COUNTY--Funeral services were held Thursday at the Stabnow Funeral Home here for Mrs. Mary (Molly) Murphy, 81, Greenwood, who died Dec. 19, 1955 at the Clark County Hospital in Owen, where she had lived since 1951.


Officiating was the Rev. James Cooper, pastor of the Baptist Mission Church, and pallbearers were Harold Stabnow, Henry Johnson, Michael Podobnik Sr. and Anton Trunkel Sr. Interment was in the Greenwood Cemetery.


The former Mary Jenkins was born in Southern Wisconsin Aug. 21, 1874, and was a young woman when she moved with her parents to Clark County, residing on a farm southeast of Greenwood. After the death of her husband, William Murphy, in 1924, she lived with her brother, George, on the Jenkins farm and after his death she made her home with Mr. and Mrs. John Susa Jr. until 1951, when she went to Owen.


Besides her husband and brother, another brother, Ralph Jenkins, preceded her in death. The only known survivor is a niece, Mrs. F. J. Leafsky, East Aurora, N.Y.
