Baskovec, Joseph (1887 - 1961)

GREENWOOD, CLARK COUNTY--Joseph Baskovec, 73, died of a heart ailment Wednesday at 11 p.m. at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Pekol, in Willard, where he had been residing.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Willard. The Rev. Aloysius Madic will officiate and burial will be made in the church cemetery.
Friends may call at the Hill Funeral Home beginning Saturday afternoon. A general rosary service will be conducted at 8 p.m. Sunday.

Mr. Baskovec was born in Yugoslavia Nov. 25, 1887. At the age of 17 he came to America, settling in Chicago, Ill., where he was married to the former Frances Zell May 26, 1910. She preceded him in death in 1945.

The couple came to the Greenwood area in 1932 when they began operating a farm in Willard. Mr. Baskovec retired from farming three years ago and went to live with his daughter. He was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church and the Catholic Order of Foresters.

He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Stanley (Jennie) Pekol, Willard, and Mrs. Anton (Frances) Debevec, Greenwood a son, Joseph, Chicago, Ill. seven grandchildren one great-grandchild and a sister in Yugoslavia
