Lyon, Virginia Mae (1928 - 1952)
GREENWOOD, CLARK COUNTY--Mrs. Melvin Lyon, 24, a resident of this area until a month ago, died last night, Nov. 19, 1952 in a hospital in Globe, Ariz.
The young woman, accompanied by her husband and daughter, Sandra, 4, left here in October for Arizona because of her health.
She had been ill for several months with a heart disease, brought on by an attack of rheumatic fever several years ago.
Lyon and their daughter will accompany her body back. They are expected Sunday. Funeral services have been tentatively set for 2 p.m. Monday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church.
The Rev. Magnus Egge will officiate and burial will be made in Greenwood Cemetery. The body will repose at the Schiller funeral Home until services.
Mrs. Lyon, the former Virginia Mae Erickson, was born in Greenwood May 24, 1928. She and Melvin Lyon were married in Greenwood Dec. 14, 1944.
They lived on a farm near Loyal until about three months ago, when they sold it and purchased a house trailer in anticipation of the Arizona trip. They remained in Greenwood until they left.
Two of their children, Sonja, 7, and Rodney, 7 months, remained with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Erickson, Greenwood. Another, Glenn, 2 stayed with Lyon's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Claire Lyon, Loyal.
The only other survivor, a brother, Burnell, lives in Madison. Three sisters and two brothers died in infancy.
