Spaete, Florence (1901 - 1990)
 

Florence Spaete, 89, Neillsville, died Monday, April 2, 1990, at Neillsville Memorial Home. Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 4, 1990, at United Church of Christ, Neillsville. Rev. Loren Hickerson officiated. Burial was in Neillsville City Cemetery. Grandsons and great-grandsons served as pallbearers.


Florence (Strebing) Spaete was born Jan. 25, 1901, in Lyons, Ill. to August and Esther (Hewett) Strebing.. She received here education in Lyons, Ill. She worked for a short time in Chicago before moving to the Town of Washburn in 1921. She married Carl Spaete on April 19, 1922, in Neillsville. She and her husband farmed in the Town of Washburn for many years. He died April 19, 1956. She retired in 1960 and moved to the city of Neillsville. She was a member of United Church of Christ, Neillsville and U.C.C. Sewing Circle.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Willie (Dorothy) Bagwell, Neillsville Mrs. Donald (Ruth) Meihak, Neillsville two sons, Robert, Davenport, Iowa and Lawrence Spaete, Belvidere, Ill. one sister, Mrs. James (Evelyn) Gillis, Fairfax, W. Va. 18 grandchildren 27 great-grandchildren and 2 step-grandchildren.


Preceding her in death were her parents and husband.
Gesche Funeral home, Inc., Neillsville was in charge of the arrangements.
