Rowley, Gladys (1901 - 1990)


Gladys Rowley, 88, Loyal, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 20, 1990, at Neillsville Memorial Hospital. Funeral services were held Friday, Feb. 23, 1990, at 11 a.m. at the United Methodist Church, Loyal. Rev. C. Arlene Denzer officiated and burial was in the Loyal Cemetery. Pallbearers were Ron Rowley, Don Rowley, Dan Rowley, Jim Rowley, Jack Schlinsog, Dale Schlinsog, and Jerry Schlinsog.
Gladys Herdrich was born April 25, 1901, in the Town of Loyal to Charles and Mathilda (nee Paetow) Herdrich. She graduated from Loyal High School in 1917 and attended Oshkosh Teachers College for three years. She married George Rowley Dec. 26, 1923, in Loyal.


He preceded her in death in July 1978. She taught at Fifield School. After their marriage they lived in Park Falls, and moved to Loyal in 1927, and were engaged in farming in the Town of Loyal. She taught at Lyons School and then at Loyal Public School until 1967. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and its Women's Society.


Survivors include two sons, Donald Rowley and Daryl Rowley, both of Loyal one daughter, Mrs. Claire (Ilene) Schlinsog, Kenosha one sister, Mrs. Florence Dietz, Mt. Carroll, Ill. 16 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.


She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, one brother and one sister.


Rinka Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
