Ure, Robert T. (1893 - 1990)
Robert T. Ure, 96, Neillsville, formerly of Granton, died at
9 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 6, 1990, at Memorial Home in Neillsville.
Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 8, 1990, at the Christ
Lutheran Church in Chili. Rev. Herbert Bierman officiated. Burial
was in the Town of Lynn Cemetery. Grandsons served as
pallbearers.
Robert Ure was born April 29, 1893, in the town of Lynn to Jon and
Mary (Mahn) Ure. He received his education in the Town of Lynn and
at Neillsville High School. He farmed with his family and did
threshing for about a year, around the United States and in Canada.
He was a veteran of WWI. While in the service he participated in
sharp shooting competition with the Allied forces in Europe. After
returning from the service he and a brother operated a saw mill in
the Town of Lynn near Chili. He married his wife Lula, Nov. 3,
1923, at Waukegan, Ill. She died Feb. 2, 1984. He was a member of
the Christ Lutheran Church in Chili and a former member of the
Christ Lutheran Church in Chili and a former member of the Veterans
of Foreign Wars, Neillsville.
Surviving him are two sons, Lloyd, Granton Ronald, Rockford, Ill.
three daughters, Mrs. Duane (Rita) Rollins, Chili Muriel Ure,
Granton Mrs. Urban (Lila) Schmidt, Neillsville one sister, Mrs.
Marian Lindow, Neillsville 16 grandchildren and 19
great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents, three bothers, two sister,
one great-grandson and one great-granddaughter.
Gilbertson Funeral Home, Granton handled the arrangements.
