Widmer, John J. (1914 - 1990)
Funeral services were held Monday, July 16 at 1:30 p.m. at Rux
Funeral Home, Colby, for John J. Widmer, 76, Holcombe. He died
Thursday, July 12, 1990, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield. Rev.
Dennis Olson, St. Joseph's Chaplain, officiated and burial was in
the Holcombe Cemetery.
John Widmer was born May 28, 1914 in Taylor County, to Otto and
Elise Widmer. He farmed in the town of Unity for 25 years. He had
owned a tavern in Riplinger for two years. And one in Owen for
eight years. He moved to Holcombe in 1968, and worked as a
carpenter until the time of his illness.
He and Alice Cammers were married Sept. 29, 1934 in Waukegan, Ill.
She survives.
Also surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Janet (Clifford) Ammons
and Mrs. Judy (Roger) Kilty, both of Marshfield, and Mrs. Arlene
(William) Marten, Stanley four sisters, Mrs. Rose (Henry) Holthus,
Grand Rapids, Minn. Mrs. Lillian Kops, Colby Mrs. Elise Bergmann,
Owen and Mrs. Beth Reitz, Port Washington 12 grandchildren and 16
great-grandchildren. Preceding him inn death were his parents, four
brothers, and one sister.
Rux Funeral Home handled arrangements.
