Wolk, Emil (1897 - 1990)
Emil Wolk, 93, Colonial House Living Center,
Colby, died at the Living Center Thursday, Oct. 18, 1990. Funeral
services were held at 11 a.m. at First United Church of Christ,
Colby. Rev. Keith Schoerlucke, Wesley United Methodist Church,
Wausau, officiated. Burial was in the Colby Memorial cemetery.
Pallbearers were Michael Rahm, Stephen Beyerl, Neal Witte, Richard
Herrmann, George Weller, and Tony Sterziner.
Emil Wolf was born Sept. 22, 1897, in the town of Hull, Marathon
County, to Frederick and Wilhelmina (nee Zilgit) Wolk. He received
his education in Cherokee School. He married Hertha Sachse June 20,
1925, at St. John's Evangelical Church, Colby. She survives. He
farmed until 1949 in the town of Hull, then moved to the city of
Colby. He worked various jobs including driving school bus for 14
years and he was the church custodian for 19 years. He also worked
for the Harmony Co-op of Colby and did carpentry work. He was a
member of the First United Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife two daughters, Mrs. Emery (Joanne) Rahm,
and Mrs. Loraine Beyerl, both of Colby 10 grandchildren 10
great-grandchildren and nieces and a nephew.
He is preceded in death by his parents, one son, three brothers and
three sisters.
Rux Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
