Laux, Lydia Rose (1893 - 1989)
Lydia Laux, 96, Colonial Living Center,
Colby, died Tuesday, Dec. 27, 1989, at 9:30 a.m. Funeral services
were held Friday, Dec. 29, 1989, at First United Church of Christ,
Colby. Rev. Kenneth Dix officiated. Burial was in Colby Memorial
Cemetery. Nephews and grandnephews served as pallbearers.
Lydia (Altenberger) Laux was born Nov. 21, 1893, in Howard's Grove,
to Joe and Clara (Schulte) Altenberger. She received her education
at St. Mary's Parochial School, Colby. She worked for Sears and
Roebuck for 3 years in Chicago. She then worked as a telephone
operator in Stevens Point until her marriage. She married Edgar
Laux, June 25, 1925, in Stevens Point. After her marriage they
moved to Colby area and farmed for many years before retiring. He
husband died May 24, 1983. She was a member of First United Church
of Christ, and its Ladies Guild.
Survivors include nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, three brothers
and five sisters.
Rux Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
