Maegdefessel, Ruth (1901 - 1990)


Ruth Maegdefessel, 88, Green Bay, formerly of Neillsville, died Friday, Jan. 12, 1990, at 9:25 a.m. at Odd Fellows Rebekah Nursing Home, Green Bay. Funeral services were held Wednesday, Jan. 17, 1990, at United Methodist Church, Neillsville. Rev. Thomas LaChapelle officiated. Burial was in Neillsville City Cemetery. Relatives and friends served as pallbearers.


Ruth (VandeBerg) Keller Maegdefessel was born March 30, 1901 in the town of York, Clark County to John and Lillie (Lawrence) VandeBerg. She received her education in the town of York. She lived there until 1922 when she moved with her parents to Neillsville. She married Elmer Keller on June 26, 1926. He died July 30, 1962. She worked for Zimmerman's store in Neillsville for many years. She later worked for Model Laundry for 20 years, retiring in 1963. She married Charles Maegdefessel on Oct. 12, 1963. He died May 30, 1974. She was a member of United Methodist Church, Neillsville. Order of Eastern Star Carnu Chapter 60, Royal Neighbors of America, Rebekah Lodge 225 and Women's Relief Corps #10.


Survivors include one son, Lee Keller, Los Angeles, Calif. And several nephews and nieces.


Preceding her in death were her parents, two husbands, three brothers, Alvin, Horace, Manley and one sister, Ida.


Gesche Funeral Home, Inc., handled the arrangements.
