Swann, Clifford E. (1907 - 1990)
Clifford Swann, 82, Sunset Place,
Neillsville, died at Memorial Home at 3:38 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 21,
1990. Funeral services were held Wednesday, Jan. 24, 1990, at
Gesche Funeral Home, Neillsville. Rev. Thomas LaChapelle, United
Methodist Church, officiated. Burial was in the Neillsville
Cemetery.
Clifford Swann was born Oct. 23, 1907, in Superior to Ernest and
Hilda (Hansen) Swann. He was educated in Neillsville and Cedar
Rapids, Iowa. He then moved to Arkansas where he died construction
work. He married Margaret Besler, June 10, 1926, at Mount Vernon,
Iowa. He returned to the town of Grant in 1930, where he farmed
until 1939. He then moved to Pennsylvania where he helped build the
Pennsylvania Turnpike. He later traveled extensively, and helped
build airports throughout the United States. He returned to the
Neillsville area in 1976 and entered Memorial Home in Nov. 1989. He
was a member of the United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Donald (Hilda) Lipsey,
Neillsville Mrs. Lawrence (Catherine) Stanley, Marshfield two sons,
Clifford Jr., Edgerton Charles, Suffolk, Va. nine grandchildren and
five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
Gesche Funeral Home, Inc., handled the arrangements.
