Cannon, Alma (1891 - 1990)

Alma Cannon, 99, a resident of Neillsville Memorial Home for the past 12 years, died at 11:15 p.m., Feb. 15, 1990, at Memorial Home.

The body was cremated and the ashes will be interred in the Neillsville Cemetery in the spring. Rinka Funeral Home, Greenwood, was in charge of arrangements.

Alma Olcott was born on May 4, 1891, at Antioch, Ill. She married Jay Sherwood in 1909 at Waukegan, Ill. She resided in Neillsville with her son Ellsworth Sherwood and for the past 12 years has been a resident of Memorial Home.

She is survived by five sons, Ellsworth Sherwood of Neillsville, Paul Sherwood of Texas, Robert Sherwood of Tomah Orville Sherwood of Athens and Edward Sherwood of Racine three daughters, Mrs. Clara Dickson of Denver, Col., Mrs. Shirley Palms of Neillsville, and Mrs. Beatrice Jones of Fairchild four brothers, George, Leroy, Warren and Everett and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

(The obit says her name was Alma Cannon, but nowhere in the obit does it say that she married anyone named Cannon.  She is buried in the Neillsville Cemetery as Alma Sherwood.)
