Smaldone, Margaret (1887 - 1978)
 

Margaret Smaldone, 91, a former Greenwood, Clark County resident, who has been residing at Neillsville Memorial Home for the past eleven years, passed away early Sunday morning, Sept. 10, 1978.


Services were conducted at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 12 at Rinka Funeral Home, Greenwood. Rev. David Logue officiated and Mrs. Duane Olson was the soloist, accompanied by Miss GiGi Plautz on the organ.


Margaret McNeil was born on June 3, 1887 at Elysian, Minn. to Alexander and Emma (Prosser) McNeil. She received her education in northern Wisconsin.


She was married in Columbus, Georgia on Aug. 16, 1919 to Frank Smaldone.


They farmed in the northern part of Wisconsin until 1924, then moved to a farm west of Greenwood and farmed until 1949, when they moved to the City of Greenwood.


She was a member of the Royal Neighbors of America and the Greenwood American Legion Auxiliary.


Surviving her are two daughters, Miss Mary Smaldone of Maywood, Ill., and Mrs. Lois Nowosel of Glenview, Ill. and one sister, Mrs. Christina Reitsch of Tonawanda, N.Y.


Preceding her in death were her husband in 1963 two brothers one sister and one son.
