Gutenberger, Anna (1904 - 1990)


Anna Gutenberger, 85, Colby, died Thursday, March 8, 1990, at 3:30 a.m. at Colonial Living Center, Colby. Funeral services were held Saturday, March 10, 1990, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Colby. Rev. Bruce Ball officiated. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery.


Anna (Engel) Gutenberger was born on March 20, 1904, in the town of Mayville, Clark County, to Frank and Charlotte (Decker) Engel. She received her education in Dorchester schools. She married Elroy Gutenberger on Oct. 27, 1924, at St. Louis Catholic Church, Dorchester. He died Aug. 18, 1980. They farmed in the Colby area for 33 years. In 1957 they retired and moved into the city of Colby. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Christian Mothers, Westside Group of St. Mary's
and the OAO Homemakers Club.
Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Armin (Rita) Walsh, Marshfield Mrs. Melvin (Eileen) Bender, Mosinee Mrs. Gordon (Eldora) Schuster, Marshfield Mrs. David (Sharon) Treutel, Colby one son, Roy Gutenberger, Merrill two sisters, Margaret Williams, Milwaukee Evelyn Beyer, Milwaukee on brother, George Engel, Milwaukee 47 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents, four brothers and 2 sisters.


Rux Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
