Berger, Elsie (1901 - 1990)

Elsie Berger, 88, Neillsville, died March 16, 1990, at Neillsville Memorial Hospital, Neillsville. Funeral services were held Monday, March 19, 1990, at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Neillsville. Rev. Paul Reede officiated. Burial was in Neillsville City Cemetery. Family and friends served as pallbearers.

Elsie (Gehrt) Berger was born June 28, 1901, in the town of Pine Valley, to Herman and Amelia (Krueger) Gehrt. She received her education in the Silver Crest School, town of Pine Valley. After school she went to Milwaukee to work for a short time. She married Arthur Berger on Aug. 17, 1925, in Winona, Minn. He died Feb. 22, 1988. They owned and operated Berger Men s Clothing Store, in Neillsville.

Survivors include one son, Arvid Berger, Neillsville one daughter, Mrs. Emma Marden, Neillsville five grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her parents, one son, Robert, two brothers and two sisters.
