Verhalen, Edgar Charles (1910 - 1991)
Edgar Charles Verhalen, 80, Loyal, died
Monday, Feb. 4, 1991, at St. Joseph's Hospice Unit, Marshfield.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Feb. 7, 1991, at St. Anthony's
Catholic Church, Loyal, at 11 a.m. Rev. Roman Kaiser officiated and
burial was in the Loyal Cemetery. Pallbearers were Roy Hartl, Bill
Joyce, Donald Cole, Gary Verhalen, James Verhalen and Joe
Poehnelt.
Edgar Charles Verhalen was born Oct. 16, 1910, in Lyons, to Jacob
and Olive (nee Kitterhagen) Verhalen. He received his education at
Loyal and Spokeville Schools. He married Edith Young Nov. 20, 1937
in Milwaukee. She survives.
He farmed in the Loyal area from 1937 - 1968. He was employed by
Berg Equipment Co. until 1976, when he retired. He continued to
live in the city of Loyal. He was a member of St. Anthony's
Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife one daughter, Bonnie (Mrs. George)
Barten, Wis. Rapids one son, Kenneth Verhalen, Waupaca three
brothers, Elden Verhalen, Milwaukee Vern Verhalen, Milwaukee and
Walter Verhalen, Florida two sisters, Mrs. Germaine Schelvan,
Waukesha, and Mrs. Myra Reich, Marshfield and four
grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Leroy.
Rinka Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
