Spaete, Ida W. (1902 - 1991)
Ida W. Spaete, 88, Granton, died Tuesday, Feb. 5, 1991, at
Neillsville Memorial Hospital, Neillsville. Funeral services were
held Friday, Feb. 8, 1991, at Zion Lutheran Church, Granton. Rev.
Herbert Biermann officiated and burial was in Windfall Cemetery,
Granton. Friends served as pallbearers. The congregation sang,
accompanied by Caroline Helm.
Ida W. Radewahn was born July 29, 1902, in Maliers, Germany, to
Ernest and Pauline (nee Becker) Radewahn. She received her
education in Germany. She came to the states in 1925 and married
Alfred Spaete June 24, 1925, in Wausau. She and her husband ran
grocery stores in Neillsville, Granton, and Rice Lake. They also
ran a meat processing plant in Granton until 1959. She was preceded
in death by her husband Dec. 16, 1977. She was a member of Zion
Lutheran Church, Ladies Aid, and Busy Bee Homemakers.
Survivors include two sons, Alvin A. Spaete, Granton Dr. Paul E.
Spaete, Columbus two daughters, Lydia (Mrs. Alvin) Cramer,
Pittsville and Elsie (Mrs. William) Larson, New Auburn two sisters,
Mrs. Selma Raschke, Wittenburg, Germany and Mrs. Bertha Hoffman,
Magdeburg, Germany seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren
and one great-great-grandchild.
She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, one brother,
one sister and one grandchild.
Gesche Funeral Home, Inc., handled the arrangements.
