Dearth, Katherine J. (1926 - 1991)
Katherine J. Dearth, 64, Owen, died
Wednesday, March 13, 1991, at her home in the town of Hoard.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 16, 1991, at
the Owen Alliance Church, Owen. Pastor Ron Clason officiated and
burial was in the Riverside Cemetery in Withee. Pallbearers were
Robert Stark, Joseph Murphy, Brian Murphy, John Dearth, Robert
Breuer and Mike Breuer.
Katherine Matson was born July 22, 1926, in the town of Holway, to
Fred and Katherine (nee Malen) Matson. She graduated from Withee
High School in 1944. Her marriage to Harvey Dearth took place July
7, 1945, at Owen Alliance Church. He survives. After their marriage
they farmed in the town of Hoard until 1952, moving to Unity where
they farmed until 1957. They then moved to Loyal and farmed until
1962 when they moved to Greenwood, farming until 1986. In 1986,
they moved back to the town of Hoard, residing on the family farm.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Greenwood.
Survivors include her husband two daughters, Mrs. Joseph (Beverly)
Murphy, Greenwood and Mrs. Marvin (Barbara) Herrin, Modera, Calif.
two sons, James Dearth, Stratford and Delbert Dearth, Owen five
sisters, Mrs. Russell (Frieda) Dearth, Owen Mrs. Ray (Amelia)
Dearth, Owen Mrs. Elmer (Hilda) Dearth, Owen Mrs. Rudy (Ann)
Tauchen, Curtiss and Miss Lillian Matson, Withee one brother,
Harold Matson, Withee 13 grandchildren and 11
great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents and one grandson.
Maurina Funeral Service, Inc., handled the arrangements.
