Siebert, Earle R. (1919 - 1991)
Earle R. Siebert, 71, 210 E. Division St.,
Neillsville, died at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, May 18, 1991, at St.
Joseph's Hospice Care Unit in Marshfield.
Services were at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 22, at St. Mary's Catholic
Church in Neillsville, with the Rev. Joseph N. Henseler, pastor,
officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery.
Pallbearers were Brent Claflin, Henry Lukes, John Knoff, Steve
Karstens, Howie Sturtz and John Resong.
Earle Siebert was born June 26, 1919, at Whitelake, Wis., to Henry
and Clara (Culver) Siebert. He graduated from Birnamwood High
School and received a B.A. Degree from Central State Teachers
College at Stevens Point in 1941. He was editor of the Pointer, the
college newspaper. He also wrote a column for the Stevens Point
Journal.
He was a member of the Alpha Psi Omega fraternity and the Chi Delta
Rho fraternity. He spent four years in the U.S. Army Air Corps
during World War II.
Siebert taught at Marion, Wis. and at Green Lake County Normal. He
was editor and owner of the Black River Country Shopper for many
years, and after retiring, he spent time in Texas. Also, after his
retirement he did substitute teaching, house painting and
gardening. He had also spent many years in the National Guard.
He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, a member of the
Neillsville Rotary Club for many years, a member of Haugen-Richmond
Post of the American Legion of Neillsville Number 73, and of
Wilson-Heintz VFW Post Number 2241, and the 40 et 8.
He married Barbara E. Gerdes on May 23, 1942, at San Antonio, Texas
she survives. Other survivors are three sons, Michael and Jonathan,
both of Neillsville Stephen, Marshfield two daughters, Sue Ann
Schrapk, Neillsville, and Sandra Ryan, Harlingen, Texas nine
sisters, Mrs. Norman (Gertrude) Schabell, and Mrs. Verna Schoenick,
Stevens Point Mrs. Erma Hoffman and Mrs. Freeman (Barbara) Monfort,
Green Bay Mrs. Roger (Ruth) Halverson, Eagle river Mrs. William
(Joyce) Brown, Gillett Mrs. Marcella Wilke, Cudahy Bette Haley,
Hollywood, Maryland and Mrs. Robert (Virgene) Delzer, Pulaski a
brother, Gordon Siebert, Neenah 14 grandchildren and one
great-grandchild.
His parents and two sisters are deceased.
