Sollberger, William (1900 - 1991)


William Sollberger, 90, Neillsville, died Monday, May 27, 1991, at Neillsville Memorial Hospital, Neillsville. Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 29, 1991, at 1 p.m. at Gesche Funeral Home, Inc., Neillsville. Rev. John Wilhoit and Rev. LeRoy sager officiated. Burial was in the Neillsville City Cemetery. Pallbearers were Don Berthold, Elmer Hoesly, Bertie Schultz, Lewis Scholze, Lawrence Kolbrak, and Harold Brockhaus.


William Sollberger was born June 24, 1900, in the town of Hewett, Clark County, to John and Elizabeth (nee Dubi) Sollberger. He received his education in Columbia School. He also attended cheese making school in Madison. He was a cheesemaker in Wisconsin and Michigan. He married Irma I. Ackerman June 7, 1933, in Granton. She survives. After their marriage they owned and operated Sollberger store and Filling Station in Columbia for five years. They then began farming in the town of Hewett. They also owned a Silver fox farm for a short time. He was the fire warden for the town of Hewett for many years and also loved to hunt, trap and was an avid beekeeper. He was a member of the Undenominational Christian Church.


He is survived by his wife.


Preceding him in death were his parents, three brothers, three sisters, and several nieces and nephews.


Gesche Funeral Home, Inc., handled the arrangements.
